An announcement is used to play an informational message to a caller. After the message is played, the call will proceed to its destination. This can be used in place of an IVR if multi-destination routing is not required.

In your Voice Portal, navigate to Applications > Announcements

Click the button:

Here we will discuss the setting needed to creating a new Announcement. Each one of these settings has a tooltip that will go into greater detail if you need it.

Description: Used for your reference so you know what this recording is and its purpose without having to listen to it.

Recording: Select the recording you wish to play. These options come from the system recordings. You can follow this guide to create a new one.

Repeat: If the message has an option to be replayed, you can use the drop-down to select the key that would do that.

Allow Skip: Select if the consumer can press a key to skip the message.

Return to IVR: If this announcement came from an IVR and this is set to yes, the destination below will be ignored and instead it will return to the calling IVR.

Don’t answer Channel: We are going to leave this defaulted to “No”

Destination after Playback: After this announcement plays its message where would you like it to terminate to. You could send it to an IVR, extension, ring group, voicemail, etc.

Once you’ve confirmed all settings are correct you can click the “Submit” down at the bottom

Press the “Apply Config” in the top right
